Female Employees of NGO , Saiban,  kidnapped ( Quetta, Pakistan )

Friday, Dec 12, 2003: According to HDP sources in Quetta, Kidnapped employees of NGO Siaban have been released and have arrived to their families safely. HOWEVER, the culprits of this heinous crime are still at large. HDP and Other Hazara organizations have requested all the readers to demand action from authorities. Quetta , Saturday 6th Dec 2003: Four female employees, a 6 month old child, and a driver of Saiban - an NGO working closely with UNICEF, have been kidnapped while they were coming from Mastung to Quetta.

According to Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) sources, around 4:00pm local time, the employees were returning from District Mastung to Quetta when their Van was stopped and then driven away at gun point.

Among the Kidnapped employees are TWO Women, one of them with a SEVEN MONTH OLD CHILD (also kidnapped) belonging to the Hazara community. TWO Women belonging to the Punjabi Community with one of them EIGHT MONTH OLD PREGNANT.ONE male driver. The driver belongs to the Christian community.

HDP sources have expressed grave concern on the inaction of the Pakistani Government , the NGO Saiban, and its bigger affiliates UNICEF. This shameful act of abducting women, one of them 8 months pregnant and other with a 7 month baby along with her, has shattered all tribal codes of honor where women and children are protected from conflicts. Due to the stigma attached to such acts, the grieved families tried to find their loved ones while keeping their silence. On Thursday, December 11, they approached the HDP for help. HDP held an immediate press conference demanding the safe recovery of the employees and condemning the shameful act.

HDP has been in contact with all the political parties to bring this issue to light. The Pakistani government, the NGO Saiban, and its affiliated organization UNICEF , according to our information, has not issued any statements in condemnation of this act.
